You may be surprised to find that my chosen ride at the moment is actually a £600.00 Trek 6300.Ok so it may not be standard catalogue spec but a lot of the parts are original. The heart of the beast is always the frame and the 6300 offers Trek's mid spec aluminium frame with race geometry (a slightly longer top tube so you can run a shorter stem for extra singletrack agility). The ride is stable and sure footed and certainly gives the package a sporty feel. Remember this frameset is used up to the 6700, with LX/XT spec and Rock Shox Recon forks the package is very upgradable...

Offroad Endura clothing does what it says on the tin, nice fitting, comfortable and good vfm...
On road Giordana is the swag of choice, well cut, nice colour ways and again good value, the shorts and jerseys being my favorites. |

| Bontrager Tyres and XT kit |

For commuting duties Bontrager Sattelite tyes are holding up well, keeping punctures to a minimum and rolling on the tarmac with ease, for hand comfort Ergon grips are a must, they look a little odd, come in different sizes to suit varying hand sizes.
I'm currently trying out a Shimano 08 XT chainset, it feels very stiff, good shifting performance and has the new composite middle ring and looks very trick... |
